Beggar card

.

“Lemme read it. Oh, don’t write ‘help me please.’ People don’t like it when it is about you spefisically--write ‘help the homeless’ so that it is more general.”

Date: 09/09/12
Location: Brooklyn-bound R train, Whitehall Street stop

Two months later that person is apparently still homeless and still begging for change in the streets. Did they draw a new card each time they went begging? If so, how did they get a hold of pen and index cards?

It is interesting that the "h" of the word "help" went from upper-case to lower-case. It is almost as if the call for help has become a little quieter.
